Hello all,
I have recently bought a cheap yoga 460 in pieces and are slowly rebuilding it in a working laptop.
It was missing all the goodies like SSD, RAM and even the touchscreen. SSD and RAM I had and the touchscreen assy I found very cheap.
Now I am looking for the touchpad ribbon cable connecting the touchpad to the mainboard. Seems difficult to find as the Y460 was not the most popular laptop around.
If someone has a yoga 460 and has the bottom cover removed, it would help me a lot if you could take note of the number so that I can do a more focused search on the internet.
I know it has 12 contact points and should be roughly 12 cm long...
Thanks for your help.
Cheers,
Yves

Google for:
460_yoga_frubom_20170424.pdf
p40_yoga14_mt20fy_yoga460_hmm_en_sp40j47499_01.pdf
Looks like P40 and Yoga14 and Yoga460 all use the same parts.
The frubom has these two touchpads (but no mention of a cable):
00JT977 N CS15S_3+2BCP,MYLR,BLK,CHY
00JT978 N CS15S_3+2BCP,MYLR,SIL,CHY
Here's a picture of the back of the palmrest: https://www.ebay.ie/itm/384261948409
Looks like it's quite a long (flat) cable from touchpad to mobo.
Looking on eBay for: lenovo touchpad cable these look promising:
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/274504524799
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/283943712992
https://www.ebay.ie/itm/274964628057
Since most of the newer touchpads all look the same, I wouldn't be surprised if all their cables also all have the same connectors (but different cable lengths).

Re: Yoga 460, Ribbon cable trackpad to mainboard
Thanks RBS...
The ebay listing with the palmrest I found yesterday and I took a screenshot in the hope I could read the number on the ribbon cable...
I also realized that the Y460/Y14 and P40 are basically the same machines.
As for the cable you found on ebay, the last only has 6 contacts and the other 2 ones I can not see how many contacts they have, looking at my touchpad it has 12 contacts...
"Since most of the newer touchpads all look the same, I wouldn't be surprised if all their cables also all have the same connectors (but different cable lengths)" I agree that's why I ordered the following cable from ebay yesterday...

Re: Yoga 460, Ribbon cable trackpad to mainboard
Short update, the yoga 460 is alive...
The cheap 2nd hand display is working perfectly - stylus and touch all good.
Battery from 2017 with 25 cycles has nearly its full potential which is a testimony of the quality used compared to the poor quality batteries used in the newer Yoga 910 and the Yoga 930 which I am currently using - I am now running the 3rd battery on a laptop from 2019.
Still waiting for the ribbon cable to arrive so touch-pad is still not working and the external volume buttons are not working so I ordered a new start/volume up and down board, hopefully I can get that sorted out.
So another one saved...shame that it only has a FHD display , I am really spoiled with the 4K display of the 910/930, if not I would sell these consumer laptops and use the 460 for work.
More to follow...

Re: Yoga 460, Ribbon cable trackpad to mainboard
Last update...the 460 is fully up and running!
Replaced the power/volume board to get the external volume buttons to work.
The ribbon cable I bought did not work so I ended up buying a palmrest assy which still had the touchpad and ribbon cable installed.
I fitted that palmrest as the original one had some damage on one corner.
All is working fine now except for 1 USB port, the plastic guide in the port is broken - maybe I will replace that if I feel confident enough to solder on the mainboard.
As a last something I forgot to mention, the BIOS battery was dead giving me some beeps and prevented me to start the laptop. As at this early stage I did not if the mainboard would work so I took a new CR2016 button cell, recovered the cable connections from the original BOIS battery and taped the terminal on the + and - on the cell, protected it all and its working since. The prices for a new BOIS battery are nuts seen the cost of 1x CR2016 battery.
The final question...how much did I pay to get the yoga 460 working again?
Laptop 85€
480GB SSD 50€ (I could have done a lot cheaper and it did not had to be a 480GB drive but I can use this drive in another laptop)
Palmrest 30€
Wifi card 17€
HDD to mainboard cable 22€
Touchpad to mainboard cable 7€ (did not work)
Complete display assy 50€
Power/volume board 17€
RAM 8GB 41€
I paid all in all 310€, I do find these for around 300€ in good working order so its not been the deal of the century but it was a lot of fun!
