No one tried this laptop?
Why no posts? Has no one ever bought this laptop? Cause I am considering it as a purchase.

Re: No one tried this laptop?
I've never checked this part of the forum, though I did look at Yogas before I joined this site, but I ended up with an X61T instead.
Maybe it got wiped during when the database was moved.
You probably have better chances at the official Lenovo forums.

Re: No one tried this laptop?
Really new forum category. Nice.
My opinion of the Yoga is kinda mixed... it's more of a selling standpoint than a practical one, because I see more cons in the design than pros. There are some neat tidbits about the Yoga that can make it fun to use, such as bending the screen nearly all the way back on the keyboard, placing it on a desk like that and use the touchscreen, with it standing itself up. But you could do the same with an X201T, just turn the screen around and angle it at you correctly.
However, there's numerous other laptops following from the Yoga's *idea*... such as those Sony tablets that have a screen/tablet on a stand, hinged at the center of the tablet, and that weird Acer Aspire with the keyboard at the front and touchpad at the middle.
I don't know anyone who's tried a Yoga... so I'd appreciate if anyone can post a testimony on their use of the Yoga in this new forum to kick it off!

Me neither, yes, lordmetroid please go buy a Yoga, you should have money left from escaping Brinstar.Medessec wrote:I don't know anyone who's tried a Yoga... so I'd appreciate if anyone can post a testimony on their use of the Yoga in this new forum to kick it off!
Come back with thoughts, with a review, we'd appreciate it!!
I must of confused the Yoga with the ThinkPad Helix or X1C forum.rkawakami wrote:Database move should not have lost any forum posts. This forum was created last Saturday.

Re: No one tried this laptop?
My son and I glanced at one at the local Staples.
Looked interesting, but I'm sure I'd find the keys on the bottom of the machine when in tablet mode very distracting --- don't they have a nice case to address that?

Re: No one tried this laptop?
The Thinkpad Yoga has the "Lift and Lock" keyboard, which flattens out the key area so they aren't press-able. It's one of the differences between it and the Ideapad Yoga.WillAdams wrote:Looked interesting, but I'm sure I'd find the keys on the bottom of the machine when in tablet mode very distracting --- don't they have a nice case to address that?
I have one on order. It's supposed to ship any day now, and then it'll be a week before it arrives.
I am trying out a Helix in the meantime (see my for sale post!), but I find I don't use the tablet feature that much. So I decided I'd rather have a good Ultrabook which can sometimes be an OK tablet than a decent tablet that's an OK Ultrabook.
Since this subforum is new, most of the TP Yoga information I've gotten has been from here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/ ... -yoga.html
Re: No one tried this laptop?
I'll be ordering a ThinkPad Yoga to replace my W520 sometime in February. ...as I type this on my X41t :p
Co-worker picked up the non-ThinkPad Yoga before x-mess and he loves it. I was torn between the X240, T440s and the TP Yoga. It took going back to the X41t to tell me I should get the TP Yoga.
I've missed the Wacom tablet so much~~
edit:
I should say, I did have the Sony Duo 13 in contention until I read all the forum posts about 1) the digitizer being a knock-off non-Wacom (and thusly not directly supported by Adobe Creative Suite) and 2) the WiFi antennas working worth a hill of beans, people getting 50% or worse stability while sitting less than 10 feet away from their access point with no obstructions. I really wanted to like the Duo too :/

Re: No one tried this laptop?
Hi,
I recently purchased two of these with the following specs...
i7-4500u/8GB/256GB SSD/1080p screen/NO DIGITIZER/Intel 7260-N WiFi - (both preconfigured from a consumer store)
I swapped the 256 SSD in both of them for a 750GB SSD and a 1TB SSD (Samsung 840 EVO series). I swapped the 7260-N for a 7260-AC wireless (make sure you get Lenovo approved wifi cards!). Performance has been excellent. I have used the T series for years and decided to pick these up for a replacement for my wife and me. The new T440s did not appeal to me.
Feel free to ask any questions and I will try to answer based on my use!

How do you perceive the flexing issues as documented in the following video?mek_man wrote:Hi,

Do you need to exert a lot of force to get the screen and keyboard to flex? It looks rather dramatic in the video...
As for the keyboard travel, as documented here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M-Z9qPRxbhg
Is it as bad as on an ultrabook? Or slightly better?
Re: No one tried this laptop?
I actually see this this video as a little funning - yes the screen flexes it is relatively thin to begin with. But I can do the same movement from my W530 I replaced it with. Its power adapter almost weighed as much as this new computer. As for the keyboard, it does flex but it is not in the base – but in the keyboard portion only, and that is with a lot more pressure than you would type with.
From what I see it would take a lot of effort to flex the base, and I do type heavy.
So yes the travel is not as much as other Thinkpads but I found it took only 1 day to get comfortable to type on, and the flex in the keyboard actually helped. As for the screen I have used it as Laptop, and tablet, and with it up against the base it is no issue. In the tent mode, it really not an issue just to touch or use the pen, but in display I have only used it to watch or play digital media.
The unit when closed or in tablet has no flex concerns, and probably why it is a little heavy. I can move Acers and Apple products more, with less pressure in the closed position.
Compared to its cousin the Lenovo’s Yoga, it is much more durable. I do a lot of travel in my work and have always looked for durability, and in an ultra book form fix, I think they have nailed it.

Seton Hall is distributing the Yoga to incoming freshmen this year. They keep it for 2 years and then get a new pc (TBD) as juniors.

Here's what they all get:
Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga Business Ultrabook Specifications
12.5" FHD 1080p IPS (400 NITS) multitouch display
Intel 4th generation Dual Core i5-4300U, up to 1.9GHz processor
8GB PC3-12800 DDR3L SDRAM 1600 MHz memory
256GB Solid State Drive (SATA 3)
Intel HD Graphics 4400 Graphics
720p HD Webcam
Intel Centrino Wireless-N 7260 BT_BGN
Dolby Home Theater v4 Stereo speakers
4-in-1 card reader (SD, SDHC, SDXC, MMC), Mini HDMI, Bluetooth 4.0
2 x USB 3.0 ports (one powered)
TrackPoint, Digitizer Tablet Pen
8 Cell LiPolymer 47Wh battery, up to 8 hours
45-Watt AC Adapter
Looks like last year's model, maybe even a year before that. Still, not bad for a free student loaner. And yeah, I know it's not really "free." Everything is baked into tuition.

Re: No one tried this laptop?
My Yoga 2 Pro (Clementine Orange, 256Gb SSD) arrived last Friday. Almost finished migrating from my W520 which will now become my wife's desktop replacement machine after retiring a seven year old Dell tower box that has run 24/7 for all those years on XP.
I have the W520 running with a cooler fan since it will be working 24/7. Will be interested to see how long it will hold up.
The Yoga 2 Pro is wonderful to use. Very lightweight and the screen resolution is amazing. Details on the machine:
http://mobilesupport.lenovo.com/us/en/p ... oductParts
http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/le ... 9:0000FC74:
I have also been using a Chromebook Pixel for several months and after using a high resolution screen I could not bear to look at my W520's screen any longer, so I opted for the Yoga 2 Pro.
I will still use the Pixel when I need cellular modem capability when WiFi is not available. I like to head out to a local park and work sometimes away from the grind at home, where I usually work as a consultant and teacher.
My Pixel use was an experiment to see if I could do all my work on the cloud since the Pixel is basically a fancy Chrome browser running Chromium OS.
I also have a T60p with a failed hard drive and splotchy screen sitting around for repair work one of these days.
If you have questions about the Yoga 2 Pro, feel free to post and I will answer what I can.
