Pending review ThinkPad Yoga

I've just order this machine and it is due to arrive the week of 1 June.
I currently use a ThinkPad X220 i7 with 128GB SSD fully kitted which is now 4 years old. This machine has been exceptionally solid and has only had to have the fingerprint scanner replaced under warranty twice. It has fallen off the roof of a golf cart as well as off the seat onto the fairway without any visible or internal damage. It has been rained on so many times that I can't even count the times. My trusty workhorse is no longer in warranty but it will continue to be used in my home.

My reason for ordering the Yoga was because of the Lenovo build quality and the Yoga's convertible factor which I need.

As one of the owners of a speciality software development firm whose products are aimed at high end golf courses, I am often in a golf cart driving on course and find myself having to make changes to the course hole image maps. A tablet with a digitizer will suit perfectly. I make presentations in small environments where up to 3-4 key decision makers are around the table. I also check code, connect to our company database, set up and remote into the client's administration portal, as well as, edit small video files for the clubs while on location as well as, video conference. The Yoga seems to fit the bill perfectly for me.

My Yoga will be fitted with an i7 core, 256GB SSD, 12.5“ FHD IPS (1920 x 1080), 10-finger Multitouch Display with combined WACOM digitiser pen, 8GB Ram, wireless AC, OneLink Pro Dock and the feature guaranteed to give me another 3 years or more of use, the 3-year next day on site warranty.

I'll write up a review after I set the unit up and give my thought. The ThinkPad Yoga is a special beast but if you have a need for it, it might be a winner. I can only hope it proves as reliable as my X220.

Nice. It's nice to have another person from Melbourne whom loves their ThinkPad.
