Thinkpad Yoga 15 - RAM Upgrade
Thinkpad Yoga 15 - RAM Upgrade
I am trying to upgrade my RAM but cannot seem to find any that will fit the slots.
The current RAM is 6.8cm x 0.4cm x 3.0cm, but I cannot find RAM of this size anywhere.
The Kingston website tells me that this model is compatible but I can't see how a 9cm wide module will fit into a 6.8cm slot...
Has anyone managed to upgrade their RAM and if so where from?
Many thanks

Go here to download the Thinkpad Yoga 15 System Service Parts list: https://support.lenovo.com/us/en/documents/tpad-fru-kr
In there you'll find this RAM:
03X6656 4GB DDR3L 1600 SODIMM
03X6657 8GB DDR3L 1600 SODIMM
Checking eBay with EXACTLY this: (03X6656,03x6657) shows you various brands.
Most important are these three words if you search 'neutral/non-Lenovo': DDR3L 1600 SODIMM

I see this sometimes described as 'thin outline' memory, but still 204 pin. After looking at many photographs of 204 pin memory i don't see any physical difference between one and the other.
Do you have a photo of what this memory card looks like?

The L in DDR3L stands for Low voltage (~1.3V against ~1.5V).
No visible difference otherwise!

I prefer Amazon but searching for DDR3L 1600 SODIMM does not return any that would fit the slot according to the product dimension sizes.

What are you complaining about?
All 204-pin SODIMMs have the same size!
Get this one if you insist on Amazon:

From your link:
Brand Samsung
Item Weight 9 g
Product Dimensions 7.8 x 4.2 x 0.8 cm
But I don't understand how it will fit if it is 7.8cm wide but as per the below photo the slot only accommodates 6.8

And you believe everything that is printed?
Follow this link to download Samsung's info on these RAM-modules: http://www.samsung.com/semiconductor/gl ... c_12-0.pdf
Go to page 6 and scroll down to Chapter 4.5, then:
Go to page 21 and then start swearing at Amazon...
