Thinkpad Yoga 14 doesn't register keystrokes

#1 Post by sjde » Wed Apr 27, 2016 9:47 pm

My Thinkpad Yoga 14 has been doing this a lot since new and I am now wondering if it's a manufacturer defect. Does anyone else experience this-I'll hit the keys and when I look up at the screen a lot of letters/words are missing!

Maybe the keyboard connector is loose? You should be able to re-seat the connector by following Lenovo's HMM.

I would probably just send the whole thing back and ask for a replacement yoga. If it has problems out of the box, there may be more issues down the road.

They only talked about replacing the keyboard.

I am not sure about the thinkpad yogas, but you should be able to choose whether to have lenovo replace the keyboard, or have them send a keyboard to you and replace it yourself. If you don't want to open the case up, the former will work, but it will just take a little longer.

Great! I'll ask about that.
I have a service plan for a year with Geek Squad but they told me they'd ship it out and it would be wiped clean to do the repairs! Lenovo didn't say that.

Never trust "Geek squad", especially on computer repairs. Most of them have little clue what they are doing and may end up damaging your laptop or do a poor job of putting things together. They also like to charge ridiculous prices.

They did exactly that with my last computer . They said the hard drive was damaged in shipping and I wondered. Anyway, got a free replacement computer out of it.

I think part of the problem is whenever I switch screens/websites, it has to warm up a little , like 5-10 seconds and won't record anything I've typed until it does. Is that normal?

Whenever I switch screens, it has to warm up a little , like 10 seconds and won't record anything/everything I've typed until it does. Not just switching websites, but even just screens, like going from one email draft to another

I need to wait and keep pressing until the cursor shows up on the screen otherwise.....

Here's an example--

ust be oters like him--yo just don't know themor they aren't as honst.

It should've said---

There must be others like him--you just don't know them or they aren't as honest.
