ThinkPad Yoga 12 S1 and NVMe m.2 SSDs?

Hey everyone,

This is hopefully a quick question, but maybe not, depending.

I got a Yoga 12 S1 at work the other day after its stock drive failed. It's sporting a Broadwell i7-5600U, and based on my research, Broadwell processors do support NVMe drives in the m.2 form factor. So my question to you all is specifically, do you know if NVMe technology is supported on this particular notebook? I'd like to drop one in and make it my primary drive, and then use the SATA slot as the data drive. Thoughts?

Unfortunately the answer is no - the M.2 2242 WWAN slot supports SATA III (6 Gbps) SSDs. You still can accomplish your goal but your transfers will be limited to standard 550 MB/s Read/Write.

Sucks to be me, then, but oh well. Thanks for the reply though, I really appreciate it - it'll keep me from spending time hunting an NVMe drive and spending the extra money.
