My old S1 chugs along nicely after all these years. But increasingly I have a problem getting it to charge properly. Seems to be an issue with that flat rectangular power plug slotting into the socket. it wobbles quite a bit not making best contact. Sometimes it will be inserted and not show as plugged in icon. Other times it will show plugged in icon, but not charging. Often, I fix it by reinserting upside down from before.
getting another power brick might fix it, but if not I'm wondering if anyone has soldered in a new power socket and if it was relatively easy? I'm at early stages of failure so looking for potential solution. Overall this has been a great machine. After earlier experiencing good stuff with X200 and x200 tablet and several x models before, I'm happy with quality that is still maintained.
BTW, what are people finding as best replacment for it when it kicks the can?

See if this helps: http://www.ihowfix.com/lenovo-thinkpad- ... sassembly/
Your biggest problem might be to find a replacement socket.
How hard can it be to solder those few contacts? (2x +, 2x -, 1x sensor)
Worst case: you might be able to put in the round barrel connector from e.g. a T60/T61, give that a thought/try.
