Yoga 3-1170 andTouchpad not recognised/not working

#1 Post by friedrich-eugen » Tue Jan 01, 2019 9:21 am

Hello,

I've been trying to repair an Yoga 3-1170 from spares, the machine works perfectly, Windows 10 home and Tools installed. Display is bright, Touch 10 finger is working... But:

Touchpad will not be seen. Mouse, if installed works perfectly, but Touchpad (!) is not seen, does not respond. Earlier, a different mainboard, I saw occasional defects. Actually
it does not resond at all. (different Touchpads, different Cables, different boards). Yoga 3-1170 Bios does not show any option to activate/disactivate Touchpad/Mouse. Legacy
USB is on. UEFI is on. Windows Touch (display) is auto.

Windows does not see any driverproblem (it does not see the touchpad at all, so it can't) Any hints, concerning this problem?
:(

Boot a Linux Distro and see if that detects the track pad?
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

No,

it does show a cursor, as it does work with the display (touchdisplay!), but it does not see/ work with the trackpad...

As the external mouse, as the touchdisplay work, it should not be a problem of the mainboard, should it?
Well if that is true, I should be cable or trackpad or both, shouldn't it? ??

Any hint...?

If both Linux and Windows don't detect it....then 99% it's likely a hardware problem.

Problem solved:

the cable -system to touchpad- has to be sensibly inserted & fixed, very small aberration does produce a touchpad being not recognized...
There seems to be some sensibility touchscreen versus touchpad, it happens rather often, that my cursor stops working, but the screen still is touch-sensible...
