T520 Running Windows 11 Home

After applying the D-Word registry hack and disabling the TMP 2.0 and processor requirements, Windows 11 successfully installed on my T520 in about 20 minutes after the .iso was downloaded.

I am typing this from the T520 and so far it is running faster on Win 11 than it did on Win 10. I'm so far impressed.

Other than MS security concerns, there is no reason why a 2nd generation i7 QM processor cannot successfully run Windows 11.

This was an in-place upgrade from the .exe in the .ISO file downloaded from MS Insider Preview website. All of my settings, programs, and files have been retained.

Thanks for the update.

I strongly advise upgrading to Pro before you get too familiar with the system. Since Win10, the Home versions have far too many control issues and limitations you cannot get around (like automatic updates).

The T520 has so far received two rounds of updates including a .NET framework, security roll-up, and a video driver update.

Still stable and still faster than Win 11 on this machine.

I did try to upgrade it to Win 11 Pro, but that update failed and was rolled back to Home. No worries.

I am using X250 which is not in list to upgrade to Win11. Bad thing.

The T520 is still receiving security updates for Win 11. I'm very happy with the performance of the machine with this OS. No complaints at all. It is my secondary machine and runs my German TV stations after the local news is over. It is not able to cast to my TV, but that's OK.
