Thanks for the link, RBS. Guess I'll leave my T410 on Win7 x64.

No T420s support, no T430 support (!), looks like I've got plenty of choices.

Thanks for posting this.
No official support from lenovo doesn't mean that windows 8 drivers won't work, we will have to test.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
This answered some questions for me as well. I have a ThinkPad W500, and while it exceeds the minimum requirements for Win10 it's not listed as a supported computer. Still, installing and using Win10 was much more of a horrowshow than I would have believed. I finally reverted to Win7 Ultimate (64-bit) and my TP is back to it's rock-solid self.
When I FINALLY got Win10 to install and I was able to log into Windows, I noticed a pop-up window asking me how my installation experience went. Oh boy, golden opportunity to vent! But the computer froze up solid before I could even click the window. Restarts were met with the same error message every time. "Something went wrong..." and the sad face. Every option simply got me back to that BSOD. I'm gonna forget about it for a while and see what shakes out.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
Offtopic but - from the list of supported systems we have 2 rows:RealBlackStuff wrote:These are the machines that Lenovo supports for W10:

W550 ✓ ✓

So i completely confused - is there any W550 (NOT s-Version) ThinkPads on the market???
Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
Considering that I just upgraded my T420s to Windows 10 in a straightforward manner, it just means that Lenovo just wants to keep their butts safe on machines more than 3 years old. The Sandy Bridge machines being the last of the classic series is probably another reason. Maybe they just want users all on the newer architecture and system?
Since moving on to 10, all my lenovo apps have shown up with updates specifically for 10 and they've all worked as native as ever. This is like the French resistance - The support doesn't exist, but everything keeps happening anyway.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
My experience on the X220 has been similar to that of Josh5K. I have not tried everything, and I did have some mouse issues (see separate posts), but everything seems to be working, and each day things actually seem to be working better. I have not made any objective measurements, but it seems like programs are opening faster and the stuttering and hesitations I noted on Day 1 are gone.
I would like to get a better read on battery life and performance, but have not had time to address. So far, however, it's a cautious "go" for me.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
The only ThinkPad-related frustrations I've experienced are:
- The Lenovo Companion and Settings modern apps, which despite working for a while, now continually prompt to install the System Interface Foundation. I can live without either, although Fn+F6, for example, doesn't work without the Settings app. (From what I've seen on the Lenovo fora, this problem afflicts allegedly supported systems as well.)
- Bluetooth appears to be always on (at least the indicator LED is). This could be because I upgraded to Intel 7260AC wireless with Bluetooth 4.0, so will probably just have to live with that.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
Right. Not encouraging (no official X220 or T430 support). I'll soldier on based on other comments. Thanks.RealBlackStuff wrote:These are the machines that Lenovo supports for W10:

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
i had this problem as well. When I boot, the Bluetooth radio is turned on. Fortunately the Fn-F5 keys work to open up the Power Settings of Wireless Radios, and I can turn it off.ansible212 wrote:The only ThinkPad-related frustrations I've experienced are:

Another small thing. When my x220 sleeps and I wake it, I'm left with a permanent onscreen display of the keyboard Think light showing that it is turned off. My workaround: If I wait until everything is loaded, I can use the Fn-PgUp to turn the light on, wait for the on-screen display to fade away, turn it off with Fn-PgDn, and when the OSD fades - it's gone -- no longer on screen. Without turning the light on and off again, the OSD just stays on all the time after returning from sleep.
Performance under Win10 is pretty snappy, and I'm generally happy with the interface. I had very little to do other than a mouse hovering problem that drove me CRAZY for a couple of hours, but was fixed in the Ease of Access center by unchecking "Activate a window by hovering over it with a mouse".
Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
My primary machine is my T410.
I have Windows 10 running on it nice and smooth. I did a clean install of Windows 10 Enterprise and everything went perfect with no issues.
Minus some privacy concerns and the lack of Aero Glass, I really like this operating system. It's very fast, boots extremely quick (I do have an SSD which helps a lot).
I did not have to load any drivers, everything was updated from Windows Update.
I'm really loving this OS. Which is coming at an odd time for me as I was all ready to complete my move to 100% linux and kiss the world goodbye. But that is a different topic for a different post.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
My T520 is not listed. Nevertheless the upgrade from 7 Pro to 10 Pro was easy and then a clean install was easy as well. I would like the Lenovo Power Manager and HotKeys and my only other concern is that the Bluetooth indicator remains on. I've proved that using the Settings panel turns the radio off, but as I said the LED remains lit. Otherwise the OS is rock solid. Edge, however, is a disaster. I'll stick with Chrome.

Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
Has anyone been able to get Bluetooth to work on Windows 10 on a T520? Not supported on Lenovo website, no drivers to be found.
Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
It appears to work on my W520. I can turn it on and off and the drivers are loaded for it. I never use bluetooth so I haven't tested it to see if it connects.NukeThemTillTheyGlow wrote:Has anyone been able to get Bluetooth to work on Windows 10 on a T520? Re: Windows 10: Supported Lenovo machines
Do you know that you actually have BT? Most that seem to struggle actually find they really don't have. I believe that's been mentioned by those that did W7 to W8 also that actually had functioning BT in W7.NukeThemTillTheyGlow wrote:Has anyone been able to get Bluetooth to work on Windows 10 on a T520? Machine ID?
I saw mentioned I believe that someone did a HOT KEY in the utility that enabled the radios on/off etc. Does your Device Manager show any errors?
