X60 (Tablet) upgrade - not detecting NX?
X60 (Tablet) upgrade - not detecting NX?
Has anyone had any luck upgrading to Windows 10?
I tried with an X60 Tablet (from Win7), via both Windows Update and from a burned ISO. In theory I believe it should work, but the setup keeps complaining about not finding NX support. Thing is, the CPU (Core Duo L2500) does indeed support NX, and the option for it (Security > Memory Protection) is turned on in the BIOS. The BIOS is up to date (though fairly old, same as this one).
Very puzzled.
SOLUTION: There is another DEP setting in Windows that you need to turn on: Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced system settings > Advanced tab > Performance "Settings..." > Data Execution Prevention tab > choose the second option ("Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select"). Restart the computer.
As suggested here

Re: Windows 10?
Probably not much help, but I was testing on my X60 tablet (L2500) up to build 10130, and it has always installed OK and run as well as W10 does.
I was testing 32-bit on the X60T and 64-bit on an X201, but let the X60 sit in a cupboard after that build. I've now got it fired up and updating to the final build 10240. It all looks as if it's going well, but slowly, so I'll only report back if it fails at any stage.

Re: Windows 10 upgrades?
FWIW, YMMV
Had the same NX issue with a X60s with L2400 with W10 RTM 32-bit over W7.. Never found a solution. From searching around, I convinced myself that it was something in BIOS that was not enabled.
When I checked, the X60t has a different BIOS than the X60/X60s.

Re: X60 (Tablet) upgrade - not detecting NX?
Just another datapoint: Tried installing the KB2952664 update (released yesterday), didn't work.
[edit] Got it! Had to turn on a Windows setting for DEP, and enable it for "all programs and services" instead of "essential Windows programs and services only". Odd that the installer wouldn't notice that setting and take it into account!

Re: X60 (Tablet) upgrade - not detecting NX?
Thanks for posting a solution.
Another thing I had to do....
Make sure DEP is DISABLED in the BIOS (under Security -> Memory Protection).
I had it turned on and still got the NX error. (You should see some message in the Control Panel dialog along the lines that DEP is provided by software. It should not say that DEP is supported by the processor.)

Re: X60 (Tablet) upgrade - not detecting NX?
Strangely, it worked for me with both enabled... I guess each model needs some different combination?
