T520 Integrated camera: missing in Lenovo Settings and W10 camera app

#1 Post by gaphic2 » Thu Dec 10, 2015 5:08 am

The camera works online (webcamtest) and in Skype, but no settings show up in the Lenovo Settings app. The W10 Camera app doesn't recognize the camera either.

I can't see any problem in Device Manager, the Integrated Camera is there, driver is Ricoh 1.1.0.1147. As far as I'm aware this is a Win 7 driver, there doesn't seem to be a W10 driver. At Windows startup, \Integrated Camera Driver\X64\RCIMGDIR.exe is run.

In Skype options, I can access and change camera settings, the settings window is titled 'Properties of Video Capture Filter'. These changes remain, also after restart and when testing the cam as a webcam online.

Any ideas on what I could do to access cam settings in Lenovo settings and use the W10 camera app? Am I missing some Ricoh or Lenovo settings software?

same problem with windows 8 and T520, the app doesn't recognize the camera.

I have seen other sandybridge based laptops from HP that had this issue fixed using a driver update.

I installed the T530 camera driver, and now the camera app does work. Well, sort of, image quality still is horrendous.

Detailed controls still only possible through a third party app like Skype. I can switch between the HD720p camera at 1280×720 px (0.9 megapixels) and the 0.3 megapixel resolution (640 x 480 = VGA) by choosing 4:3 or 16:9 in the camera app. Any online use reverts to the VGA resolution.

The funny thing is that face recognition is on by default, I get a green square following me around. Amazing how robust those NSA backdoors are, haha.
