Win10 ate the Gobi GPS on my W530
That's it. No idea why. The Gobi GPS chip, which was configured on COM3, appears invisible and the shortcut that I had on the desktop to launch it, now does nothing. Not even an error message.
The Device Mangler [sic] says the port is still configured just fine, but there's no indication that a GPS exists.
Did something just get disabled? Or...?
Is this like the XRite Color Calibrator, simply no longer supported (apparently) by Win10, with no mention of problems from the upgrade advisor either?

The same thing happened with the FPR on one of my T510's. It was in the DM, said the driver was good, but no worky.
Turns out that even though the driver was there, there was no GUI or program to use the thing. Took me several days to sort that out. It works though. You wonder how in hell you can have a driver installed for a device and not be able to operate it.
It might take you awhile to find something that will support the GPS in Win 10. I don't doubt that there something out there, somewhere.

With GPS enabled under W10, Micro$haft can monitor your every move with that laptop! Just what you always wanted...
Dump W10 and go back to a usable and useful OS, such as W7.

Windows 10 should have built-in tools to use GPS, it should be visible at least in the new control panel, and should be able to turn it off and on.
If not there, then it is drivers problem.

Ah. Blackie, now you get the reason why I want that GPS so badly. When I need a cuppa Joe, or a coupla good slices of real pizza, not that chain-store pizzoid stuff, I need it delivered to me ASAP and I want it delivered right to my desk, not left with some [censored] concierge down at the security booth. And without a GPS or WiFi location logs, how else is Microsoft going to hook me up with the right local vendor (pulled from the top ten on my Google contacts list) and get my stuff to me on time?
You think some dumb Amazon Fresh drone using Facebook's DeepFace recognition software is going to find me, all by itself, if I'm not sitting in front of a window?
Hellno, real men don't need no privacy. We applaud the online publication of our private videos, and nervously count the number of hits and shares to make sure we're still on top. Among other positions.
