T61 T9300 w/ NVS 140M (NOS post defect) - Latest W10 Fall Update breaks video card

#1 Post by dhenry » Fri Dec 29, 2017 12:34 pm

Guys,
I just had to roll back the latest Falll Creators Update for W10 because at bootup on that update, my NVIDIA Quaddro NVS 140M card (purchased from Tuus a post-defect MB) was disabled and replaced with the Windows "generic video driver". I tried a few things (re-installed the NVIDIA drivers, chose update drivers automatically in device manager), but after a couple of reboots still no NVS 140M.

I finally rolled back the update and it now works again, but I know at some point I'll be forced to install it (THX M$FT). Has anyone else experecne this or knows a fix?

Thanks all and Happy New Year!
Dan

Since nVidia has never abandoned their driver development on legacy chips like others do, I suspect this will be fixed. I would check nvidia's forum to see if it's been solved yet.

I prefer to wait a year before any major windows updates to avoid things like this.
