New alternative for Win10 Pro only: MS Windows Sandbox
New alternative for Win10 Pro only: MS Windows Sandbox
There is a New alternative for Win10 Pro only: MS Windows Sandbox.
www.pcworld.com/article/3338084/how-to- ... osoft.html
Sandbox can be used as a "Win10 Pro Virtual Machine lite version", and is less demanding on your CPU since it runs as an App and not as VM.
Practical uses: Use Sandbox to try/install new program that are suspected to contain malware, use browser in Sandbox to visit sites which may install malware, etc.
Obviously Sandbox has its limits; it does not (and cannot) completely replace Virtual Machines.
Caveat: This requires Win10 Pro, and Windows 10 May 2019 Update.

Re: New alternative for Win10 Pro only: MS Windows Sandbox
It is an interesting feature. It conflicts with VMware Workstation which I have been using to do these things since 1999 thereabouts. I did not realize this when I ran it, but when I exited the Sandbox, VMware would not start. I had to uninstall Sandbox and do a repair install in Workstation and it is all running again.

Its a "feature" to make sure MS lets you "use" their service exclusively. In true MS fashion!jdhurst wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 5:29 pmIt is an interesting feature. Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.
The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I'd figure they'd do that by sending all the private keys and passwords from anything in sandbox you do right to MS.dr_st wrote: ↑Mon Aug 26, 2019 1:35 amGotta make money somehow.Thinkpad4by3 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 25, 2019 9:14 pmIts a "feature" to make sure MS lets you "use" their service exclusively. Re: New alternative for Win10 Pro only: MS Windows Sandbox
Not at all likely . They would not need Sandbox if that is what they were going to do.

Yes, well, there are times when jokes are funny, but use them too much, and they just become pure bull.
YMMV.
