T430 Keyboard failure with Windows 10

#1 Post by Gramm » Mon Oct 28, 2019 7:06 pm

I recently had a computer store trouble shoot a failed screen. After installing new screen it failed after a few minutes. Unable for them to find source of problem I decided to get a portable monitor. However when I took unit home the keyboard would not work. Future efforts by repair shop failed to activate keyboard. They claimed that Windows 10 drivers selection did not work with this older Thinkpad[/size]What can I do to fix this problem. And why would the new screen burn out after a few minutes. The keyboard worked for the updates until the drivers were updated.

I'm calling baloney on the shop's excuse. They may not have plugged the keyboard back in correctly.

Drivers are not required for the keyboard to work.

Does the keyboard work in pre-OS environment (e.g., can you enter BIOS?)

exactly, they should have either damaged something disassembling/assembling. all the rest is BS. T430 perfectly works with W10. the keyboard is not the issue but the OS

I have 4 T430 computers all working just fine with Windows 10. The shop didn't connect the keyboard connector properly when they reinstalled it (or broke something in the process).
