If you want a freebie T25...

#1 Post by RealBlackStuff » Tue Sep 26, 2017 3:58 am

If you want a chance for a freebie T25, answer this quiz: http://link removed

Following warning added 9/26/17:
linked website is registered (in 2013) with CRAZY DOMAINS FZ-LLC in Australia.
The registrant is Amazon in Seattle, USA, and the server-location is in Dublin, Ireland.
(I swear I have NOTHING to do with this!)

Phishing website?

You know, it does not actually say for certain that it's the "Anniversary 25" models they are giving away.

Just says "one of the 25 Limited Edition ThinkPad models".

For all you know that could be a regular T470 with a special badge on it and there are 25 of them. Doubt it, but wording can be misleading.
Thinkpad4by3's Law of the Universe.

The efficiency of two screens equally sized with equal numbers if pixels are equal. The time spent by a 4:3 user complaining about 16:9 is proportional to the inefficiency working with a 16:9 display, therefore the amount of useful work extracted is equal.

I got nine out of eleven correct, filled out the form to submit and clicked on the submit button and nothing happened. If it was actually submitted, I got no feedback indicating so, no email to confirm it, nothing.

Anyone else experience that?

Yeah same thing happened here, they might be geo-blocking American submissions as it's not even on the designated countries list. Odd they wouldn't let the US participate in the drawing, but it's likely one of those info harvesting schemes anyhow.

I haven't tried it yet, but I have experienced several Lenovo links that ONLY work under Internet Explorer 11 and NOT under PaleMoon (27.4.0).
This might be one of those.
Maybe change browser or use a VPN or TOR or...

I might be the owner of that site, and I will hunt you down with that info for every Thinkpad you have!!!

Ok, really, the most you will probably get is some spam emails. They'll sell it to a few companies and make a quick buck.

Good sleuthing. What tipped me off is the lack of HTTPS and all the images are very jpg-ey.

Dodged a bullet there. I had doubts when some of the questions weren't related to Thinkpads at all, so I decided not to put in my name and contact details.
Planned Purchase: T480s i5-8350 FHD Touch
Impulse Buy: Thinkpad not named for safety reasons

There was a post on Reddit with this same link in it.
In its title it mentioned availability in various European countries.
Maybe someone from here posted the phishing-possibility on Reddit or someone there also found out.
Either way, the post has since been REMOVED or DELETED on Reddit.

Because of this, I'll remove the link.

Added 9/27/9:40am:
And the specific T25 link, as well as ANY reference to T25, has been removed from that website!
Even the Google cache has been cleaned!
Guess Lenovo realized that something is seriously amiss...
(Why don't they react as quickly when we ask about DECENT screens?)

BTW, the (link-removed) website looks and acts as if it is only there to promote Lenovo in the UK.

My apologies for leading you up the wrong path!

Looks like the Think-Progress site was created for Lenovo by King Content (an Australian content creation agency) for marketing purposes in EMEA. The site actually exists in several languages:
https://www.kingcontent.com.au/case-stu ... -strategy/

King Content AU also shows up as the registrant on a WHOIS search for that domain.
Thinkpad 25 (20K7), T490 (20N3), Yoga 14 (20FY), T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X220 4291-4BG
