LegacyUpdate.net
Am I the last person to discover LegacyUpdate.net? I've now used it to update Windows XP on my ThinkPad 770z (dozens of updates available) and am now using it to update Windows 2000 on the same machine. I had an occasional hiccup when trying to set it up using a wireless connection, but it works perfectly with wired ethernet. If I'm missing something about it that I should know about, please shout. Otherwise, this seems well worth a visit.
Re: LegacyUpdate.net
You are not the last, for sure, because I haven't heard about it until you mentioned it. Thanks for sharing!
If they can provide a simple interface to update old Windows OSes - that's nice, but not a game-changer.
If they can somehow render website that stopped working with the built-in certificates on old Windows (when using anything IE or Chromium based) - that would be a big deal to me. I couldn't understand from reading whether they do this or not.

Re: LegacyUpdate.net
Can you suggest a site to test?
By the way, on one XP system, LegacyUpdate.net stopped working until I installed IE 8 over IE 6, and then all was well again.

Basically anything that gives an SSL Cipher Error or Clock Error. I think even vogons.org forum.

Re: LegacyUpdate.net
Using XP, with K-meleon and Pale Moon, after running Legacy Update, the Vogons forum opened up instantly. Firefox 48 asked me to make two security exceptions, which it does with a lot of sites that that open normally in the other two browsers.
Re: LegacyUpdate.net
Thank you! I can confirm the same - just installing the root certificates unblocked VOGONS (and probably many other such sites).
I wonder if I should enable the full Legacy Update mechanism, seeing as I have been keeping my XP box up-to-date until the very last moment Microsoft finally pulled the plug on it.

Re: LegacyUpdate.net
Why not make a full backup and then apply the full Legacy Update setup? It worked here. I had to restart a few times before all the updates got installed.
