pagefile control

#1 Post by krosenstein » Fri Apr 08, 2005 5:20 am

I've manually set the size of my pagefile, using the advanced tab of the system control panel, but the pagefile is twice the set size.

Is the pagefile size and existence controlled from some other location?

How do I get back control? (Please, no tips on the advisability of having the system automatically control the size)

Thanks

Try searching www.rojakpot.com for "The Stubborn Paging File". It describes an issue with Symantec Anti Virus that affects the paging file. Basically, in advanced settings, you need to set Symantec AntiVirus Start instead of System Start. ... JD Hurst

Awesome! I knew someone would have the answer here. Maybe I should rethink my use of SAV.

Thanks jd

V9 (9.01.1000) is the most recent version of Symantec Anti Virus. I have it as part of Symantec Client Security 2. The change I pointed to allows the pagefile to be set to my preference on both my Desktop and my Laptop. ... JDH

I figured that out, especially after reading the article you linked to. I just wanted to differentiate between what Leon was talking about, which appears to be Norton, not Symantec, AV.
