Hi,
My x200s is running XP SP3. - I can not put the computer to sleep or hibernate when it is plugged in. Otherwise, while it is on battery, everything works (kind of) fine, but still quirky - see below
When I choose sleep while plugged in - the computer goes dark for about 3 second - then the lights flash and the laptop starts up again.
When I choose hibernate while plugged in - the computer goes through the entire hibernate process, waits about 2 or 3 seconds - then the lights flash - I see the THINKPAD LOGO screen - and the computer comes out of hibernation and boots back in to windows.
When I choose hibernate while NOT plugged in - the computer goes through the entire hibernate process, waits about 2 or 3 seconds - then the lights flash - I see the THINKPAD LOGO screen - but then the computer shuts down properly and does not reboot until I ask it to.
Any ideas what is happening?
Thanks.

Re: computer will npt sleep or hibernate when plugged in
Hi ajdedo,
I had a problem similar to what you are describing, here is what I did:
I powered down my laptop, pulled out the battery, unplug the adapter and hold down the power/start button for about 20 - 30 seconds. Leave the machine unplugged for about 20 - 30 minutes. Press and hold the power button for another 20 - 30 seconds, plug in the AC adapter only, restart the machine. Try hibernation, see if it works. If it does, power down reinstall the battery restart the machine and try hibernation again. If it works, great, if not, maybe someone else has a suggestion.
Sometimes the battery sensor on the laptop gets some kind of wonky reading and messes things up.
BTW, silly question, but have you updated your drivers? Sometimes updating the drivers will help problems like this, (sometimes rolling back the drivers helps also!)
I hope this helps

Thanks zog,
You idea sounded so crazy that I thought it might work! Alas it didn't.... ;-(
Still comes out of standby when plugging in.
Thanks again,
A.
