IBM Thinkpad, XP Problem

#1 Post by Gimli » Wed May 11, 2005 2:08 pm

Well, I have a IBM Thinkpad r51. The thing is that i formated the whole disk(yes even the recovery one) And now i don't manage to install a new xp os. I get an error after formating the disk. a urlmon.dll file.

I have tried difrent cd's. Actaluy 4.

Heres the strange part, i'm getting suse 9.1 and Windows 2000 installed, but not XP.. I have called support, and them sendt me recovery cd, and when i'm formating my disk there. and it reboots, than i get an error there too.

Whats the deal with these stupid systems. Can't them just give you a windows CD, and a driver cd. And thats it? and not some [censored] up systems that don't work

:/

Help any one?

A lots of typos here, I'm Norwegian.

Do you have a generic Windows XP install disk, or do you just have the IBM recovery CD? A standard XP disk will install and run, then you can go to IBM.com and download the special drivers one by one. Get the display driver first. The generic XP drivers will display and work for most things, but not full screen. You will likely need sound drivers from IBM, and I would load the mouse and keyboard drivers as well. And any other special item drivers.
