Windows 2k Wireless Driver

#1 Post by ZaZ » Sat May 14, 2005 1:38 am

I recently got my T42(2379R9U). I wiped out the drive to put on 2k casue I hate XP. Everything works great except the wireless card. I downloaded the driver from IBM, but after I installed it, it keeps saying cable disconnected. The wireless indicator comes on but no internet. Anyone else seen this? Thanks in advance.

According to the spec on IBM's website, I have the Intel 2200bg which there is a driver. I dowloaded and intalled the driver for that. It is supposed to be for 2k or XP. It works fine with XP, but keep getting cable disconnected message in 2k. I have a netgear b router, if that helps. Thanks.

I have the same thing with my T30 and about every 4th time I boot up I have to uninsall and reinstall the device. Sometimes simply "repairing" the connection works, but not always. Don't know the answer but I live with it. I have a D-link access point both at work and at home with the same WEP I use so I don't have to change settings.

I found the solution if anyone is interested. If you download the latest driver from Intel's website, it installs the correct driver for 2k. It installs the Internet Connection Agent, appearntly the missing piece. Thanks for the replies. Still got a few things I'm looking for a driver for in device manager.

Actually I'm using WinXP...does this connection Agent work for that too? I'd try it if you can supply a link....thanks!

The internet connection agent is the thing in the system tray you click to find the network(s). I think IBM uses their branded version for XP that did not show up in 2K but since I used the Intel driver it shows up in device manager. The Intel version installs a troubleshooter, maybe that will help if you are still having problems. This one is for the 2200BG, maybe their is a version for your card.
