Can someone tell me how to reinstall windows with rescue &am

#1 Post by mlykke » Sun May 15, 2005 10:50 am

Hi

I've finished with all the testing on the machines so now its time to reinstall them back to a factory clean state.
But how the heck do i do that with Rescue and restore?

My version is in german so i need some pointers on where in the menues and so on i should click.

After looking at it for a while and trying to understand some info from the German im getting "scared" that the only way to reinstall the machine is if i had made a backup with it just as soon as i got it. Is this true?

Isn't there a way to get it back to the way it was from the factory?

I dont have ANY CD's of any kind. Only the machine as it came.

So please help me out with this.

Reboot the ThinkPad and press the blue "Access IBM" button when the IBM logo comes up. This should bring you to the predesktop area.

There should be an icon that says "restore to factory" condition or something like that. double click on that icon and the ThinkPad will re-image your HDD.

Use Google Translate if you can't figure out the German, or find someone who can read German to help :)

You do not need backup CDs so long as the restore partition that was originally on the HDD is not wiped out.
Homebuilt PC: AMD Athlon XP (Barton) @ 1.47 GHz; nForce2 Ultra; 1GB RAM; 80GB HDD @ 7200RPM; ATI Radeon 9600; Integrated everything else!

Ok: access IBM-> F11 (if you have the latest Bios), wait minutes while entering IBM Rescue & Recovery -> click "Daten sichern und wiederherstellen"-> click "System wiederherstellen"-> click "werkseitig installierten Festplatteninhalt wiederherstellen"

Good luck!

And there you have it - Three newly installed Thinkpads. [censored] that system just works :)
