Best Anti-Virus Protection for XP

#1 Post by julia » Sun Sep 14, 2014 9:38 am

My Webroot subscription is ending soon and I'm wondering if I should switch to another anti-virus for my XP. I like Webroot's "invisibility" but I'm not sure it's really doing all that much. Things have been creeping in, and my X220 needs minor work. I'm not ready to go to W7 yet and I want paid protection. What do people here recommend. Thanks.

Depending on one's personal preferences, I'd say ESET or Kaspersky.

The latter *seems* a bit lighter on the older hardware, but YMMV.

A belated thank you, George. I am happily working away on Windows 7 now and using ESET. My Boston tech guru, Ryan at North End Nerds, set it up for me. He's the best (for those who need help in Boston) and he uses ESET for all his customers. So Bill's been right all along

ESET wins!
