Variety of passwords

I am finding the variety of passwords bewildering. Can someone knowledgeable out there put together a list of the passords options for the thinkpad with the imbedded security subsystem? And the hierarchy/function of the passwords?

A partial list (and I admit some might be different names for the same password):

windows user password
UVM password
Rescue and recovery password
power on passsword
hdd password
BIOS password
master uvm password

my thinkpad came with the hdd password "ibm" when I got it.
My friend has repaired two that came with "count" as its hdd password.
