Hey all. I just received a new Thinkpad T43 with Windows XP pre-installed on it. I don't really want to wipe it clean and do a fresh install but I would like to get it as clean as possible. I know that IBM installs a bunch of crap and I want to know if there are any guidelines as to what I can safely remove. I'm also wondering if there are any steps that I can take get the machine as "clean" as possible.
If wiping it clean at this stage makes sense please let me know but I'd like to avoid all that work if at all possible.
Thanks!
Jon

You can safely remove all items listed in Add or Remove Programs.
Generally speaking though, it's better to use it "as is" till such time that you feel comfortable and confident enough to reside what to keep and what not to. By then you'll be able to ask more specific questions which will aide in getting better responses.
