Internet Explorer and IBM Access Connections Problem.

#1 Post by Mapson » Sat Jul 23, 2005 6:53 pm

Hi All. I'm new to this forum, having just got a brand new T43. I have a problem with Internet Explorer which I hope to get help on. My problem is that when I set a home page in IE, it works fine until I reboot, at which time the home page gets reverted back to the default msn.com. By trial and error, I have found that if I disable the following startup programs:
C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\QCTRAY.EXE
C:\Program Files\ThinkPad\ConnectUtilities\QCWLICON.EXE
using: START->run->msconfig-> (startup tab),
the problem goes away.
However, if I subsequently run Access Connections by:
START->All Programs->Access IBM->IBM Access Connections,
my home page will get reset to the default msn.com. Additionally, running
Access Connections will insert additional active entries for the above two programs in the startup list. I don't have the expertise to understand what is going on and why. Therfore, any insight and solutions that anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I remembered reading about this exact problem. Here is where I read it, and the solution:

This forum is GREAT!
Thanks GomJabber, that was the answer I was looking for.
I should have come here first, before the two calls to a disappointingly clueless IBM SW support, and countless hours of hair-pulling on my own.
Now I can go on and enjoy my T43 rather than continuing to fume about this silly problem.
