My R40 and T42 thinkpads have recently stopped recognizing the right mouse
button on an external USB mouse, e.g., right-clicking on the desktop (both
use Windows XP SP1) and the context menu doesn't come up. Right-clicking
using the UltraNav keys *does* work.
I've recently updated both machines with UltraNAV driver updates, one from
the Windows update service and one from the IBM support site. I'm wondering if this update broke things.
Has anyone run into this problem before?
TIA.
Lost right-mouse button on external USB mouse
I've used both a wireless generic mouse (a freebie from IBM) and a Logitech
optical wheel mouse: both had the same problem.
Now (of course) the [censored] thing is working properly so I can't test the
CTRL-mouse tip suggested by ibmuser.
Another clue to this is that sometimes even the left mouse click doesn't
work on the XPP login screen -- I have to TAB to get a text box for
password entry (or use CTRL-ALT-DEL twice to get to the old version of
the login screen).
Things do seem to end up working eventually if I don't have the USB
mouse plugged in when I login, but then plug in the mouse after login.
I'll keep testing and keep you all posted on my progress.
