anyone else get event id #62486?

#1 Post by skanky » Mon Aug 22, 2005 1:52 pm

any idea what the following entries in the event log (system) are about, i seem to have a hundred or so of them and they all happen in the space of about 10 minutes.

Event Type: Information
Event Source: ati2mtag
Event Category: DVD_OV
Event ID: 62486
Date: 21/08/2005
Time: 22:59:07
User: N/A
Computer: THINKPAD
Description:
Invalid parameters
Data:
0000: 00 00 00 00 01 00 5a 00 ......Z.
0008: 3d 00 00 00 16 f4 00 40 =....ô.@
0010: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

..now the ati2mtag suggests something to do with ATI and i havent changed the vid card drivers for ages..

stumped!

this is from eventid.net:

Code: Select all

Event ID: 62486
Source ati2mtag
Type Information
Description Invalid parameters.
Comments G.M. Jansen (Last update 7/18/2005):
In my case, this problem appeared when viewing video files with BSPlayer. I solved the problem by using Overlay mode 1 and not Overlay mode 2(Overlay Mixer). Open BSPlayer, and then go to Options -> Preferences -> Video -> tab Video Rendering, and here check "Force Overlay Mode 1".
Search Microsoft Support - Microsoft Search - Google Groups - Google Microsoft - EventID.Net Queue - More links...
Various Send comments - Notify me when updated
..however i dont have bsplayer installed, nor have i done anything video card related since the 5.7 cats hosed my installed and i restored an image i had (not roll-back, restored completely)

I don't have bsplayer either, I searched google and google groups and it looks like many others have had this problem and not been able to relate it to anything. It's possible its not effecting anything but then again it may be so we will have to keep searching for answers I guess.

My guess is that this occurs when playing a video. The error in the OP's post seems to indicate playing a DVD. What software were you using to play any videos during the time of the error?

Note also that there is an Overlay setting when you go into display properties. Perhaps the configuration needs to be changed.

try this:

right click on desktop.
select properties.
click on settings tab.
click on advanced button.
click on color management tab.

If no default monitor profile is set, click on the add button. Select 'IBMTPLCD'. Click on 'Set as Default' button. Click on 'Apply' button. Click OK and reboot.

If you have 'IBMTPLCD', then I don't have an answer either.

Thanks for the tip beaker however I don't seem to have the ibmtplcd profile available, do you know where I might find this. You are talking about the .icm files right?

edit: I think I found it in the ibmtools\drivers\motitor\winxp folder
edit2: Is the imbtpflx.icm file for flexview? also could you explain a little more if you know on why this might fix our problem?

thanks much!

I spent about three days trying to get a video display driver working before I went back to the old driver. What I have discovered is this, my laptop display was not completely configured. The difference is like night and day now! It is so cool...

The source file that is giving you the error message in event viewer, ati2mtag, is the same one that my event viewer said was giving me problems.

I am suggesting that perhaps if you try enabling your color configuration, that your media player might work. Perhaps the software program that powers the media player is counting on the color profile configuration. Try my instructions posted above. If that doesn't help, I'd call IBM.

May I suggest you now update video card drivers?
Either use the Software Installer to get genuine IBM drivers, or do as I do, and download Catalysts right off ATI's website, patch the .inf files with Patje's modder, install, and enjoy.

Does the event entry appear even after rebooting and doing nothing?

currently using patched 5.6's, refuse to goto 5.7/5.8 as they offer worse performance for me.

edit: rebooted and it doesnt add another entry.

So no entries listed while browsing, typing or just idling?
If it only appears while watching a movie, try updating that media-player, which-ever you're using.

Yeah the catalyst 5.7 and 5.8's were bad for me. I was using the 5.6 but I have gone to the IBM drivers for compatability reasons. The newest ones seem to offer decent performance.

I don't think the are quite as good for gaming, but the seem better in other respects. I haven't done any benchmarking just used them subjectively but with the catalys drivers I don't think the refresh was set exactly right so I would get some flashing of the screen occasionally.

To whom commented on performance: did you mean you lost a couple of FPS in a game you play?

Well I'm running 5.7 without any problems, and soon will install 5.8, seems to fix a few bugs too.

for me i didnt even get into a game. i uninstalled the old drivers, installed the new ones and pressing f5 to refresh the desktop was plain painful to say the least.

probably just me, but i went straight back to the 5.6's.

Can't comment, my refresh, and everything else, works fine.

You could try 5.8-s, or did they produce any lag too?

both 5.7 and 5.8 were bad for me (severly decreased 3D performance and desktop refresh problems). The 5.6's were very good, and the newest ibm drivers have been good as well.
