Copy the Thinpad config on a desktop

#1 Post by Tiberre » Sun Aug 28, 2005 10:25 pm

I own a Thinkpad R50e and a desktop PC, both running under Windows XP. For some reasons I would like to have exactly the same configuration and the same system on the two machines. So I would like to copy the Thinpad config on the desktop (only the c:\ partition which is about 6 Go in my Thinkpad config).

Is it possible and what is the best way to do the job ?

Thanks a lot for your recommandations and advices ?

There are others here who know far more than I, but my feeling is that, because of different drivers, etc., this wouldn't be possible.

The config cannot be the same with respect to drivers (all different), but can be the same with respect to appearance. You can use the Files and Settings Transfer Wizard in System Tools and the Office Save My Settings Wizard to bring settings to another computer. Be careful, because exact settings transfers can cause issues (file locations et al). ... JD Hurst

It can be done, it's just a bit messy. Follow the instructions in this post.
