600 wont change from 640 x 480

Sorry if this is a common problem but searched and not able to find it. I just bought this 600 off ebay from a jerk who knows nothing and I had to put in a new hard drive and buy a copy of win 98 to get it to turn on. I bought it to use as a dvd player for my motorhome and to do map programs. It booted once and dvd played worked perfect. After many hours of trying I found out the hard drive was bad and it would not boot with out disk. Now it boots fine but I cant get the screen to change to any bigger than 640 480 and it wont take the map program. I have down loaded about every driver i could think of off IBMs page with no change. I am no computer expert but this is driving me crazy. It has to be something simple. I went to the two driver web sites listed in the faqs but made no sence of them.

yes me again. Tryed some things from other posts and did get it to work. Now on to the modem to see If I can get it to work. Thanks

You need to download the drivers for this (graphics card driver or may be called video driver) as well as an INF fix if you're running Windows98. It's on the driver download page near the bottom. I blieve the INF was also called the "Ito" fix. Good luck!

If I recall, the 600 model has a shortage of IRQ's. You may need to disable the IR (infrared) to free up an IRQ, to get the modem to work.
