What is PWMIDTS.EXE?

#1 Post by alpuzz » Sat Sep 10, 2005 2:33 pm

I use Win Patrol, http://www.winpatrol.com

Just now, it alerted me to a new scheduled task that I've never seen before. The file is C:\PROGRAM FILES\THINKPAD\UTILITIES\PWMIDTS.EXE.

This happened shortly after I installed beta 1.5 of Mozilla Firefox, but this program appears to be a Thinkpad related utility.

Thanks for any info,

Google came empty, I don't have that specific file in that folder, and neither is anything scheduled on my computer.
You've got a firewall and anti-viral software monitoring yours?

I have nod32 for antivirus. I only have Windows Firewall on the machine but I am behind a router as well.

After examining the filename again, I'm wondering if it has something to do with power management or battery maintenance? I did enable the dynamic thresholding feature, so maybe this file is trying to launch in order to change charging parameters?
I prevented it from running initially and don't remember if any command line parameters were passed so if I do want it to run again, I'm not sure how to let it do its thing.

Dynamic thresholds enabled here also, but no PWMIDTS.exe.
Are you using the Power Manager or Battery Maximiser?

My question regarding a firewall was actually to find out if it wants or has connected to the Internet.
