Software Installer bites the dust at the same place. Help!

#1 Post by Lachezar » Sat Sep 10, 2005 4:34 pm

Heya folks.

My R50e is pretty new, and I didn't even know, that there was an Update Connector that does not work :(.
Our SysAdmonster told me I was 'st*pid' and should get the Software Installer and update whatever possible.

So I did. Or at least I tried, but I couldn't.
Software Installer crashed abruptly. CRASHED, not hanged, "Software Installer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". And it didn't show any message or error notice.
It crashes every time I try to find updates and every time at the same place. Not random, completely reproducable. Reinstalled the installer a couple of times, uninstalled Update Connector, reinstalled Installer another couple of times, reinstalled Update Connector back, tried again a couple of times.

The SysAdmonster told me he can't help and I might try to reinstall the system from scratch... Now that is not an option.

The search progress when it crashes shows: tvtrnr3_1027tr_2_.xml.

Any pointers?
I made a screenshot, but the forum does not allow attachments.

You should read the "Software Installer colapses" topic on General HARDWARE/SOFTWARE questions. If it makes you feel better, I'm also a R50e owner and SI crashes at the same stage your does.
