filesharing no longer works ...

#1 Post by 93simon » Thu Sep 15, 2005 2:03 pm

hey guys,

just got my T42 back from repairs (papers said they replaced system mb and upgraded bios)
- now i can't seem to connect to any PCs or even Macs at home network or at work.
they can however, connect and mount to my shares.

everything was perfect before ibm got their grubby little hands on it. :? any ideas? thanks all.

First off I would immediately remove your email address from your footer. The spamers will get ahold of that address and fill your inbox so bad you won't know what hit you.

As far as your orginal question, They probably removed network sharing. Right Click on you network connection and select properties. Make sure that the File and Printer sharing is selected.

If that doesn't work, run the network identification wizard (system properties -> computer name -> network id). That usually fixes some computers not being able to see eachother on a windows network.

thanks guys.

it seems to have gotten a little better, i can now connect to the PCs in my network now, however i can not connect to any Macs. i've tried it at both jobs with the same results. so now i'm wondering if there are any "special" mac network settings. it sucks because both jobs use Mac servers to host files, so i'm always having others map to my shares.

it's just a little bass aackwards. any ideas? tia!
