Help with install windows 2003 server on X32

#1 Post by wqdeng » Wed Sep 21, 2005 11:00 am

I got a X32 recently and want to install windows 2003 server on it. Here is the steps I tried:

1. I created a 2GB bootable DOS usb key and copied all the files in \i386 folder of installation CD to it.
2. plug usb key into x32 and changed boot order to first boot USB.
3. after boot to DOS with usbkey, run \i386\winnt and setup started to copy files to some temp folders in usb key.
4. when it finished copying, x32 boot up and setup run again and ask agreement, hit F8 to pass it and then it asked where to install. choose NTFS partition and format it and setup continue to copy the files to HD of x32.
5. after finishing copying all the files to HD of x32, laptop reboot and I also unplug usb key.

However the issue started. x32 can't boot with HD and show there is an issue with computer hardware disk configure. I read messages at this site and thought it might be due to the hidden partition. So I went to disable hidden partition in BIOS and tried all the steps again and at step 4 I deleted both NTFS and hidden partition, created and formated a new NTFS partition. However no luck, still got the same issue.

Any one got the similiar issue before? Please help me.

Thanks a lot!
