why does reformat guide recommed installing old drivers?

does he recommend installing all the old drivers first, and then install the updated drivers?

I believe when you run ThinkVantage Software Installer, it puts the updated driver and software install files in those directories, so when you copy those existing directories off of your hard disk, they will have the latest driver and software install files that you have updated to.

The method he describes is faster, because if you already have the latest updates, you don't have to download them again. You could just download them again if you'd rather with Software Installer. If Software Installer already sees the latest updates on your hard drive, it will install from there instead of downloading them again.

Note: He left out one directory - which in fairness wasn't used previously. That directory is C:\SWTOOLS.
