Access Connect

#1 Post by dkrizic » Sun Oct 09, 2005 2:22 am

Hi!

IBM Access Connect is a wonderful tool. Since my notebook now knows if I am home or not, I would like to let Access Connect configure programmatically the screen saver depending on the location.

Example:

- I am on work: Screensaver X, timeout 10min, password on
- I am at home: Screensaver Y, timeout 30min, password off

How to do this?

I don't think you can do this directly. But you can set Access Connect to run a program on switching locations, so you could probably write a batch script or, more likely, a Windows Scripting script to do this.

This page could get you started (if you're willing to make the effort and take the risk that you'll mess something up!):

Hi Boofoo!

Yes, that is what I was looking for. Sure I wanted Access Connect to launch a program. I used this Tweakomania to write a small VBS to turn on/off the screen saver, but I needed to write a small .bat to wrap it, because Access Connect neither accepts .vbs files nor parameters for the scripts :-(

Now I have a problem, that I need to explicitly turn on the password protection again, because there is no such event when leaving the profile.

Anyway I miss some kind of virtual profile for being on the road.
