Do you really need Norton AV for R&R3 to work ?
Do you really need Norton AV for R&R3 to work ?
Hi folks, I wonder if anyone can help...
Reading through the posts it looks as if quite a few people are having trouble with the latest R&R/Client Security bundle. I was on Client Security 5.x and it all worked fine. I was going to reformat my machine anyway so I did that and decided to try the new version.
No matter what I've tried, I can't get the new version to install. Ive tried with and without R&R3 (it's the client security bit I'm more interested in) but it won't happen. I can complete the initial 7 steps after the reboot, but when I hit apply, the process starts and stops instantly. I see a red X next to "Setting Authentication Method" and a message saying that I have to restart the machine and re-run the wizard. Needless to say this doesn't help.
I've followed the lead from others and cleared the security chip from the BIOS, that hasn't changed anything. A look at the readme says that this version is only compatible with Norton Antivirus. I use F-Secure Client Security. I know it's a long, long shot but could it be that which is hampering me?
I can't believe that everyone here who has managed to get this software going is on Norton - are you ? Any help would be very much welcome.
Thank you kindly

I suspect that you need to clear the security chip first. You have to do this in the BIOS under Security. Turn on the computer, and press F1 at the beginning of the boot sequence to enter the BIOS setup menu. I am not sure, but you may need to also set the security chip to disable and let the Client Security Software enable it during install. I really don't know a whole lot about all this, but that's my guess.hkhalil wrote:I was going to reformat my machine anyway so I did that and decided to try the new version.
DKB
No joy
Hello again,
I found the F1 menu, cleared the chip and tried again - Same problem.
This is a fresh install of Windows so I don't know why it shouldn't work. I will try and put 5.54 back on and see if that still works. It would be nice to have the most recent version, so unless anyone has any other ideas - Many thanks for your help.
