Problem: Standby not working properly
Problem: Standby not working properly
For a long time I have had my R51 set to go into "Standby" when I close the lid. Never any problems: simply open the lid, and resume.
Suddenly, after resuming fully, the computer would immediately go right back into standby.
I changed my power settings to "Do nothing" when I close it. Disabled "Hibernate" re-booted. Re enabled "Hibernate"
Now, even when I use the "FN F4" keys to go to "Standby" each time I reawaken the computer, it comes fully on, then goes back into standby all by itself.
If I reawaken it a second time, all is fine.
Suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help.

In my experience, Windows Standby has always been goofy. On two desktops, two notebooks and Windows 2000 Pro, XP Home, XP Pro I find Standby so sensitive it is worthless. Have to tiptoe away or it turns the system back on. On my Thinkpad (T23) it tends to snap back on and I must "standby" again to get it to work. I just use Hybernate.

It used to be a tad temperamental on my 701C; it would go to standby, then it would come out again. Why? Because I had left the phone line in the jack, and it would wake the system if so much as a phone call came in. Hibernate worked fine on it.
