Windows XP Home

#1 Post by firestarter » Wed Nov 30, 2005 3:38 am

Hi, im new to the forums and always wanted to own a thinkpad. I have a question about choosing the WinXP Home option on the thinkpad to lower the price. I already have XP PRO so if i uninstall the IBM XP Home and install my XP Pro, would i lose all the IBM utilities that are included in the software or does IBM send a separate cd of their utilities in case you lose all data or dame the hard drive? Thanks :)

If you copy C:\drivers and C:\IBMTools to CD those told all the utilities and drivers.

The retail version of XP Pro will upgrade XP Home, and keep all your installed software and settings for you. The OEM version (that comes with new computers) will not upgrade for you.
