Software installer not working at this moment ...

Just fired up the Software Installer (v 3.15.0510) in "Install or upgrade ..." mode, asking it to "Retrieve latest information on the internet".

I see the "Searching" box come up, displaying "Connecting to web service" briefly, after which it disappears. No error messages, nothing. Does the app log anything anywhere?

Do they take the site down for maintenance on weekends? Working for anybody else? Is this a personal problem?

Running WinXP Pro SP2 on an R51.

Just tried it again and it worked. On examination, this may be related to what some people are reporting in the "TP Software Installer problem" thread. I initially ignored that because the first post talked about the installer hanging, and I didn't see that. Later posts which I just read seem to describe the same symptom I was seeing.

I did find a log, in \drivers\connect.log with entries like this:

for each failed connect.

The one that appeared to work looked like this:

So, I dunno what changed.
