X31 only hibernates when on AC. Stdby only works on battery

#1 Post by Thinkhead » Wed Dec 14, 2005 5:27 am

A friend's X31 with latest drivers and updates only hibernates when on AC but no stand by as he wants to. Even when forcing via Fn-F4 the laptop hibernates.

Stand by only works when the laptop is running on battery.

Yes, of course, the AC/battery power management profiles in Windows and in IBM power tool are all set up properly. Bios power management is disabled.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
Cheers,

Type CTRL + ALT + DEL, select Shut Down..., and look at each option in the drop list. What d'ya get?

So far as my experience, FN+ F4(?) is standby (suspend), and FN + F12 is hibernate. You wont be able to hibernate if the hibernation option is not enabled on the Hibernation tab of the Power options control panel.
