Stolen laptop- How to explore rescue &recovery discs

#1 Post by hancerm » Tue Jan 03, 2006 5:27 pm

My R51 has recently been stolen :( All my work is gone and I am really desperate. I do have rescue and recovery disks that I created last month. Is there any way to explore these disks and copy "my documents" All my work is in that folder and I wonder if there is a way. What I want to do is to be able to explore the rescue and recovery disks in my desktop. Thank you for your helps.

I "think" all you need is another ThinkPad that has Rescue and Recovery installed to explore those discs and get files from them. You likely will need to have the same version of Rescue and Recovery on the ThinkPad to "see" those files.

From what I understand, you can boot up the Recovery Media CD (NOT the Product Recovery Disc set). You are supposed to be able to get to your files from there. This will need to be done on a ThinkPad I believe.
