Try clearing you cookies. I think that does it. If not, try clearing history and cache.

I doubt that the problem is related to the history file. If clearing the cookies and cache don't solve the problem, I'd recreate your profile, which is a pain if you have lots of extensions, but sometimes it's the only way.

NO, DON'T recreate your profile here, that causes headaches for a bbs admin.

I had observed this on and off with Firefox at work ... I usually just logged in with IE. I found that if I "logged in" with "remember me on this computer," using Firefox 1.06 or 1.6, and got back to the index with "log in" annunciated, I closed Firefox, and then reopened. Miraculously, I was logged in. Go figure.

Anyway, hasn't happened to me in a while, probably because ... I stay logged in via cookies. ;) YMMV.

In Firefox 1.5, under Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies, do you have the box checked "Allow sites to set Cookies". I believe this box has to be checked.
