Windows Movie Maker 2 Problem

#1 Post by tbu3 » Fri Feb 24, 2006 9:46 am

I get an error message saying "The file for video transitions and effects is missing" everytime I run Windows Movie Maker 2. Has anyone experienced the same problem and any suggestions to solve it?

This has been a common problem - but chances are some third party software conflict. Are you using Cisco VPN service?

Try this:

1. Click Start, Run, type: cmd and press Enter.
2. In the opened window, run the following command:

regsvr32 Msxml3.dll
regsvr32 Msxml2.dll
regsvr32 Msxml.dll

If the issue persists after we run the above commands, please refer to the next step.

3. Install MSXML 3.0 SP5 from the following link:

Microsoft XML Parser (MSXML) 3.0 Service Pack 5 (SP5)

Direct Download Link:

I don't use Cisco VPN service. Tried both but nothing happened. I read elsewhere that many others are having the same problem but none could provide any solution yet.
