T40 is not detecting USB devices after recovery on new disk

#1 Post by actros » Mon Feb 27, 2006 6:31 pm

I've bought new Samsung hard disk and recovered Windows XP using original ProductRecovery CDs but at the final stage computer has hanged up while detecting plug and play devices. After reset it didn't come back to detecting. System is working fine and I've installed all devices by myself,
drivers for USB are installed as well. While connecting USB device to the port, XP plays the sound that a device was detected but no action is taken. Windows does nothing about new device and it makes it useless. I cannot use my USB mouse nor pendrive. I have no idea how to reinstall XP
or upgrade USB without loosing all the data from hard disk. I have more than 40GB of important data which I don't want to loose and one big problem with this USB. I did try to remove all USB controlers from 'device manager' but after reboot XP does not recognize them and manual driver installation is required.

Kind regards,

Actros
