NOOB Internet Options question

#1 Post by lauriefoss » Mon Mar 06, 2006 11:50 am

I've searched this forum but am unable to find an answer to this question. Whenever I shut down, hibernate, undock, reset, etc. my internet home page reverts to the default MSN site. It's a minor problem, but is becoming a major annoyance!
What's up with that?

Just to rule the obvious out-of-the-way.

Open Internet Explorer (I guess this is the browser you are using). Click on Tools on the top menu bar, choose Internet Options..., then on the General tab at the top you will see Home Page. Enter the internet address you want for your home page, or else click on button to "Use Blank".

It's right to try the obvious, but in this case I've been doing that every time. It will stick as long as I don't power down in any way. Once I do, it goes back to the default.
My IT guy here doesn't understand it either.

I have had that problem. It was in Access Connections (and in the newer 4.x versions). Check the profile under Additional Settings and check the box marked "Overide home page". Fill in the home page you want. It might auto-fill for you. Then your home page should stay.

That sounds like what I'm looking for. Can you point me there? I can't find anything called "Access Connections".
Thanks

Start -> Programs -> Access IBM or Start -> Programs -> ThinkVantage. It also sits in the system tray if it is active, and IBM makes it active by default in new ThinkPads. ... JD Hurst

So - all of the wireless network connections in Access IBM had MSN as their default home pages. I changed them all to my selection.
That was certainly a hidden utility, but I'm glad I finally got pointed in the right direction.
Fixed and fixed.
Thanks for all of the help!
