Attrib boo boo

#1 Post by GomJabbar » Wed Mar 08, 2006 2:16 pm

I was messing around with the attrib command in a command prompt, and I happened to type attrib +S +H +R , then hit the enter key. All the files in the root directory were set to system, hidden, read-only. I changed a couple of them already, but I am not really sure what attributes these files should be set at. I will post my filelist below, and would someone please tell me what my attributes should be set at. An easy way to do this while in the root directory C:\ is type "attrib > attrib.txt" (without quotes). A text file by the name of attrib.txt will be created in the root directory. Just open the file, then copy/paste on this forum.

Code: Select all

           C:\AUTOEXEC.BAT
A SHR C:\BOOT.BAK
A SHR C:\boot.ini
   SHR C:\BOOTLOG.PRV
           C:\BOOTLOG.TXT
   SHR C:\BOOTSECT.DOS
   SHR C:\CLDMA.LOG
   SHR C:\cmldr
           C:\CONFIG.SYS
   SHR C:\drivez.log
A C:\DVDPATH.TXT
A SHR C:\IbmEgath.XML
           C:\INSTALL.LOG
   SHR C:\IO.SYS
           C:\LOGFILE.txt
   SHR C:\MSDOS.SYS
   SHR C:\msports.old
   SHR C:\nofile.txt
   SHR C:\NTDETECT.COM
   SHR C:\ntldr
A SH C:\pagefile.sys
   SHR C:\SYSLEVEL.IBM
   SHR C:\TCPACHIP.LOG
A SHR C:\threatalerts.txt

That still leaves 7 files if anyone has the attributes for them:

1. CLDMA.LOG
2. cmldr
3. DVDPATH.TXT
4. IbmEgath.XML
5. INSTALL.LOG
6. nofile.txt
7. threatalerts.txt
