Where are the Power Manager settings stored on hdd?

#1 Post by yossarian » Fri Mar 10, 2006 9:41 pm

Anyone know where the Power Manager settings are stored on hdd? I'm wanting to know, cause it appears you can only create/remove/edit/set the schemes in use if you are logged on as administrator.

The power manager also stores separate copies of schemes for different accounts. This leads me to believe there must be some sort of local setting somewhere local to the currently logged on account. I just don't know where. Have been fruitlessly looking through the registry.

n/m. Answered my own question.

For those of you who want to know, you can edit HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg\PowerPolicies to change the timers etc. You do not need administrator privileges. Those changes seem to propogate through to the power manager. The different power schemes are listed as numbered folders, so just dig around til you find your own.

You can also change the currently assigned policy by editing HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\PowerCfg
