I woke the computer up from standby and all of a sudden my sound is gone. Songs will not even start from any program (timer remains at 00:00).
Tech support was unable to help, i did a system restore and when i open sound from control panel it says "no device installed". I downloaded the SoundMAX driver thing from IBM (and tried two other sources), it gets to the same point in installation each time and says "driver not found, please restart". Restarting results in nothing. IBMSERV was unable to help me further... anyone have any ideas before I have to take the thing in:(?
HELP! No sound

Do you have any system beeps at all? Is there any red X's in device manager? Also try running system file checker, START, RUN, type in
sfc /scannow - sometimes this will repair weird problems. If it was me I would try completely uninistalling the drivers in device manager related to sound and start over.
